MSG

MSG is Monosodium glutamate, and is commonly known as MSG, Ajinomoto, Vetsin, or Accent, is a sodium salt of glutamic acid. MSG is a food additive and it is commonly marketed as a "flavour enhancer".

It is found in the following foods:

most canned soups of the US food industry
most beef and chicken stocks of the US food industry
most flavored
potato chip products of the US food industry
many other
snack foods
many
frozen dinners
almost all US-originated
fast foods
instant meals such as the seasoning mixtures for
instant noodles

It was in1995 that a report acknowledged an unknown percentage of our population may have a reaction to MSG and develop several symptoms which include:

• tingling, warmth and weakness in the face, temples, upper back, neck and arms
• facial pressure or tightness
• chest pain
• headaches, nausea, rapid heartbeats
• broncho-spasm (difficulty breathing)
• drowsiness and weakness

Food label names that always contain some MSG:

Basically it's a lot of boring info to say, AVOID MSG and all its forms. Restaurants are the worst offenders. Limit how much you eat out. It's sad, but true. Read labels. Find out what's in your food.

Is this subject so disgusting that you can not even speak about it?
Ha Ha

I just read a book that labeled MSG, (and other Glutenate forms)aspartame, and a few other additives as excitotoxins. Meaning they go into the brain and excite the neurons so that you are actually enjoying the food more. The taste is not different but the effect is. Because of this effect, these additives are very addictive, the brain wants more and more.

I'm sure this explains some of the country's obsession with diet drinks.

Thanks for the website. It is a great encouragement to me during this time of healing my body.

I saw a movie on this once explaining exactly what happens to your brain cells when you eat these types of flavor enhancers. It was so scary!! I stayed away from them for a long time after that, but eat them occasionally now and just wish they weren't even there. I like to eat out every once in a while, but hate to think of what I am feeding all of us.
